The International Code Council sent a message to the Chapter to thank the membership for their outstanding efforts during Building Safety Month in May. The message reads, in part, “As we reflect on our 2019 Building Safety Month campaign, we’d like to thank our dedicated membership for your participation and investment in our yearly efforts to educate audiences across the U.S. and around the world about the importance of building safety. Together we reached hundreds of thousands of new individuals with important tips, tools, and facts about building safety.
“We’re still compiling final numbers for the 2019 campaign, but all signs point to our most successful, wide-ranging Building Safety Month to date.” Click here to read the full message, with information about the successful results of the BSM campaign.
The Chapter’s members voted to approve the fiscal 2019/2020 budget prepared by the board of directors. Secretary/Treasurer Kevin McOsker, building official for the City of Las Vegas, presented the proposed budget to the members at the Chapter Meeting on June 13. The Chapter’s members have approved the adoption of a new, streamlined Ethics Policy, which was developed this year by the Ethics Committee and the board of directors. The Chapter thanks Ethics Committee members Bob Weber, Ron Lynn, Bill Laub and Mo Jadid for their outstanding efforts to revise the Chapter’s Ethics Policy. SN-ICC Public Outreach Committee Chairperson Christa Bilbrey of KB Home is pictured presenting a $2,500 check from the Chapter to the City of Las Vegas to help fund the city’s’ toddler swimming lesson program. The city’s Building Official Kevin McOsker, who serves as SN-ICC secretary/treasurer, is pictured at the podium. The Chapter contributed $28,500 this year to local drowning prevention programs, including $2,500 to each governmental jurisdiction in Southern Nevada.
Southern Nevada government jurisdictions have adopted the 2018 codes, with local amendments, which went into effect in early February.
